If you are booking Prince Palace Hotel with small kids and wondering whether the pool actually works for them after a morning of temples, here is what we found on our third stay.
This is not a review of the hotel. It is the layout of the pool floor, the rule that decides which pool your kid can use, and what our youngest actually did there.
Which floor is the pool on, and what’s up there?
The pool sits on the 11th and 12th floors, above the rooms. There are two pools: a 25m lap pool and a separate shallow pool built for kids. Both are outdoors, looking out over the city. The hotel calls this the Coconut Pool bar area, and it doubles as a rooftop bar in the evening.
It is not a big rooftop. One review we found called it “lovely although very small,” and that matches what we saw — this is a hotel pool, not a resort pool. It does the job for an hour of cooling off. It is not a destination in itself.
What is the under-120cm rule?
The hotel measures kids against a 120cm line. Under that height, a parent has to be in the water with them if they go in the 25m pool. Otherwise, kids under 120cm are kept to the shallow pool. Staff on the deck were watching for this on all three of our visits, not just posting a sign and ignoring it.
Our youngest stayed in the shallow pool the whole time. It is shallow enough to stand in without a parent hovering right over them, which meant we could actually sit down for a few minutes.

What did the kids actually do there?
Splashed around in the shallow pool, mostly. No slides, no toys laid out, no kids’ club running the pool deck. It is a place to get the temple-morning heat off, not an activity in itself. If your kids need more than water to stay entertained for an hour, bring a couple of pool toys — the hotel does not.
Our third visit here, and it still does the job after a hot morning.
Is the pool worth booking this hotel for?
Not on its own. It is a small rooftop pool, useful because it is there and because the shallow pool means you are not chasing a toddler around a deep end all afternoon. The hotel also lists kids under 12 staying free sharing a bed with parents, and treats guests 13 and over as adults for pool and room purposes — worth knowing if you are counting heads for a booking.
This works for families staying at Prince Palace anyway, who want a predictable way to cool the kids down between sightseeing. It is not worth choosing this hotel over another purely for the pool, and it is not a swim-all-day spot — go in, cool off, get back to the day.
